Pamukkale Travertines Tour
Travertines of Pamukkale are mineral terraces located in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. They were created by sedimentary deposits left by the hot springs at the nearby spa town of Hierapolis. The terraces are made up of travertine, a sedimentary rock formed by the rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate. They are often referred to as the “Cotton Castles” due to the fluffy white coating on the terraces. Pamukkale is a tourist destination that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The terraces offer a unique landscape of white pools and steps, which have also become popular for taking selfies and photographs. Visitors can explore the area and take a dip in the natural pools.
